Let me start out by telling you all about my pain from this sore subject. I had my first breakout at the age of nine. I have dealt with this problem for nearly twenty years. I come from a family that has also dealt with acne. This is both good and bad. Let me explain. Having excessively oily skin has benefits. As I age, I don't have the worry of premature winkles. My great grandmother lived to be almost ninety-five years old and she only had a few wrinkles at the end of her time here on earth. My uncle grew up with extremely severe acne and is scarred from it. He tried everything to treat his acne and nothing seemed to work for him. He later had plastic surgery to remove scar tissue from his face and neck. My mother being of a certain age, I will not say what it is, but she has only a few wrinkles and looks beautiful. The oils in our skin, helps to keep us looking young.

From my experience, I found that by experimenting with a variety of products that I will find what works best for me. Some people will disagree with this, but I know my skin better than anyone else.

Acne products can be helpful in minimizing breakouts. I have tried several. Some of them work and some of them do not.

As a child, growing up with acne, I was teased and called mean names. Pizza face, scar face, crater face, (from the scarring) and I'm sure many more. As I have grown to accept this as a part of myself, I found that there are ways of dealing with it. I don't think that I am ugly, because I have acne.

I have talked to a lot of people about acne. I've visited a doctor. He prescribed a cream and an oral antibiotic. This worked for a while. The cream dried out my acne but it also made my skin dry and irritated.

I read in a magazine article that said; something in milk might cause acne. I don't know that it was factual information. I did however test this theory. I omitted milk from my diet for a week to see if anything changed. I found that my acne increased.

How many people do you know that deal with acne on a daily basis? Five? Ten? Twenty? I guess that depends on where you are in your life and your social circle. Try something for me. Ask all of those people how many acne products they have tried, and what was the out come of their process?

I ask people I come in contact with all the time. Some people are embarrassed by it, but they are always happy to tell you what they have tried and what has or hasn't worked for them. Just remember to be sensitive when you ask them, you don't want to offend them.

I have had a lot of people tell me that they get a lot of breakouts along their chins. I do too. What I do for that is give that area of your face an extra washing and rinse it twice. That happens because your acne product isn't completely rinsed off of your face and the build up from the product can hold bacteria and cause another flair up.

I learned early on in the journey to a clear complexion that other products that you use play a big part in your acne flair ups. I have learned to read labels. Read the ingredients in the products that you use. When you go shopping look for oil in the ingredients list. Avoid products with oil in them as much as you can. They may not be used on your face, but the likely hood that you use them and touch your face after that is very likely. That is just something to be aware of. It has helped me a lot.

Remember that you aren't alone in the battle with acne. I am writing this article because I want to help as many people as I can. I know the pain you are dealing with. I have been dealing with the emotional scars that it leaves. I look in the mirror and hope that it's gone.

I want to know what you have tried. What acne products have you used? What kind of acne treatment programs have you tried? Tell me your success stories. Share with me your pain. It feels good to talk about it.
